1. Designed specifically for tropical and summer climates: Silk island cruise and resort wear is my specialty. I live year round in the sub tropics and wear only my collection unless I'm working in the garden. Believe me - they are cool. In fact they are cooler than rayon which is the primary fiber used these days. When worn in sleeveless styles that allow for a lot of airflow as my styles do, silk is very cool as it breathes with your body which rayon does not. It also absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp.

 

 

2. I design, hand paint and sew every garment myself: I am not just a middleman retailer selling silk clothing made in some sweat shop who knows where. Each garment is a work of silk art made especially for you and is made by me or under my direct supervision.  My fashion designs have a very unique style that you will not find anywhere else and there is simply no comparison between my hand painted clothing and mass produced clothing made with commercially dyed fabrics.

12. Couture Craftsmanship: I use old world couture sewing techniques that have been used forever. All the seams and edges are finished off with hand sewing or a pretty machine rolled edge ensuring the garment will not only hold up to a long life but it will also look beautiful inside and out!

 

13. 100% Silk, 100% of the time: I use only the natural fiber of silk without any blends with synthetics. You can see and feel the difference.

 

14. Green & Sustainable: As a natural fiber silk is naturally green and sustainable. It is 100% biodegradable. These days most mass produced clothing is made with synthetic fibers which are all petroleum based.  If you put a match to synthetics they melt into plastic. They are not biodegrade! This is not good news for the planet at all. Silk is made by silk worms. They are fed mulberry leaves until it is time for them to make their cocoon so that they can transform into a butterfly. To build this cocoon they 'pupate' a thin fiber winding it in a figure eight around them self until fully enclosed. This fiber is the silk fiber. The end of this silk fiber is found and unwound and several fibers are spun together to make a silk thread that is then used to weave the silk fabric.

 

15. Silk selection: There are many qualities of silk. I only use the highest quality and the more durable weights.  This greatly increases the life of your garment.

 

16. Classic Design: Though they have a contemporary feel, my designs have a classical elegance and simplicity of design and line. My designs are all about exceptionally beautiful textiles, uniquely and luxuriously draped on the body.  This never goes out of style.

 

17. Fair Prices: I make every effort to keep my prices as low as possible while maintaining my high quality standards. One way I've been able to do this is by selling only directly to the consumer. Other wearable art creators who sell through dealers and galleries as well as directly to consumers must include the dealers' or galleries' mark-up in their own retail prices. If they don't their dealers and galleries will not buy from them. These markups can be anywhere from 25%-50% or more. Because I don't sell to any retailers or through any galleries I am not forced by them to add this mark-up. This allows me to keep the quality up and give you the best price possible. I have also made my collection available in commercially dyed silks that I buy so that it is available to you without the high cost of hand painting.

 

18. Individual Attention: Every order placed with me receives my individual attention and is made to your measurements. You can talk with me to make sure you're going to get exactly what you want. Because I make every garment, even “standard” items can be customized to your needs and wants with little or no extra charge.

 

19. Quick Turnaround Time: Despite the fact that every garment is made to order I have been able to keep my turnaround time very reasonable. I only hire highly skilled seamstresses to assist me so I am confident that all work is done to my exacting standards and in a timely fashion. My current turnaround time for garments without hand painting is 1-3 weeks. For the hand painted versions it is 3-6 weeks.
